Hawkes Bay Mountain Bike Club

Hawke's Bay Mountain Bike Club Incorporated (HBMTBC), was founded in 1991; gained full time access into the privately owned Pan Pac Tangoio Forest in 1995; and became an incorporated society in 1998. The HBMTBC is affiliated to Mountain Bike New Zealand (MTBNZ) and is one of New Zealand’s largest cycling clubs.

The club’s ‘home’ is the internationally famous Pan Pac Mountain Bike Park, currently with approx 40km of forest trails, located just 10 minutes drive north of Napier. We lost much of our trail network in Cyclone Gabrielle February 2023. A huge effort by contractors and volunteers has established a new network of tracks in the Waipunga Block during 2023, as well as restoring the tracks in The Replanted Block. Our previous home in the Mill Block is now permanatly closed.

To promote, facilitate, encourage and develop Mountain Biking in the Hawke’s Bay region.

TRACK STATUS

The forest is OPEN from Sauturday 6th April 2024. Yay!

Access is via the Esk valley - from SH5 turn into Waipunga road, cross the bridge and take the first forest road to the right. Follwo this 1.5km to the carpark.

Do NOT go pass the orange signs warning of no further access.

Following the expiry of your membership year, you will receive an invitation to rejoin.
