The 9th annual Hawkes Bay Mountain Bike Club hosted mountain bike cross-country challenge for all ages, held over a selection of popular tracks within Eskdale MTB Park, on Sunday 13 December, 2009.
Once again we have set a new course (different every year), with a 20km & 10km circuit, with various combinations for each category.
Trophies are awarded to 1st place in each category (except "Mini" riders).
Open Men = 40km (20 x 2)
Open Women = 30km (20 + 10)
Vet 1 Men (30-39yrs) = 40km (20 x 2)
Vet 2 Men (40+yrs) = 30km (20 + 10)
Vet Women (30+yrs) = 20km (20)
U19 Women (15-18yrs) = 20km (20)
U19 Men (15-18yrs) = 20km (20)
U15 Girls (U15yrs) = 10km (10)
U15 Boys (U15yrs) = 10km (10)

Pre-Entry Fee: $25 ($10 for 'Mini' Riders)
OTD Entry Fee: $40 ($10 for 'Mini' Riders)

Fees are in New Zealand dollars and entering online below with a valid credit card is via a secure server.
Refunds may be granted at the discretion of the event organisers. Please request your refund in writing or e-mail. A service fee of $10 applies to all refunds.
COURSE MAPS NB: Due to the Tait block being closed during Nov-Dec '09 at Eskdale MTB Park for thinning (logging), this event is confined to the Waipunga block this year.
Actual distances are:
• "20km" is 21.25km ; "10km" is 10.40km ; "4km" is 4.5km
» The 40km event will ride 2 laps of the "20km" = 41.70km total
» The 30km event will ride the "20km+10km" = 30.85km total
EVENT INFORMATION Eskdale MTB Park is a privately owned, Productive, Working Forest that the Hawkes Bay Mountain Bike Club Incorporated have a permit for all year round access.
SMOKING is strictly not allowed at all times & DOGS are also not allowed within the forest.
Outside of the official event day, all riders must have a permit to access this area, either become a member of the club, or obtain a '3 Week Temp Permit' for just $7 each, from any of the local cycle shops, or on this website.
Mid-North Island XC Champs(M-NIC) This annual cross-country series comprises of 4 rounds ending with the final here in the Hawkes Bay:
You may enter as many or as few rounds as you wish. Your total series score is your best 3 rounds, but should there be a tie, then all four rounds will count, if there is still a tie in points, then the result of the final will decide.
NB: You must enter the Hawkes Bay final to be eligible for the series and the overall series 1st place trophies, or 2nd & 3rd place medals in each category, awarded at the Hawkes Bay prize-giving.
VENUE: Eskdale MTB Park is approx. 15 minutes drive north of Napier. For event day only we will have all parking in the neighbours paddock, access off Waipunga Rd on left immediately after bridge, approx 300m off SH2 (opp. Whitebay Lavendar Farm).
REGISTRATION: All participants must register OTD prior to competing to collect race numbers & to check-in. Go to event village between 8:30am - 9.45am.
BRIEFING: On the start line prior to each race start.
STARTING TIMES: 30km & 40km = 10:00am 20km = 10:20am
10km & 4km = 10.40am
PRIZEGIVING: Once all riders have finished & the preliminary results are calculated.

ENTRY CONDITIONS: Event is run under H.B.M.T.B.C. Inc., Pan Pac Forests Ltd. & MTBNZ race rules. Due to being an endurance event, assistance by fellow competitors is allowed.
The ONLINE facility will close at 5pm on Saturday 12 December, 2009.
All postal entries must be sent by Wed 9 Dec. (to allow 2 days postage)
